Look with your child for words that you meet in your surroundings and think about how these words are composed. You can do you this in both English and/or Dutch. E.g. badkamer (bathroom). Here you hear the words bad (bath) and kamer (room). Explanation: A room in which you can go to take a bath. Another example: De brandweer (fire brigade) A brigade to fight
Another example: De brandweer (fire brigade) A brigade to fight against fires. Zwembad ( swimming pool). A pool in which you can swim. Brievenbus (mailbox). A box in which you can you can put/find the mail. Try words like: stofzuiger (vacuum cleaner), vaatwasser (dish washer), parkeerplaats (parking place) etc. etc.
