What is it?
Keep on reading also during the holidays! Research shows that children who don’t read during the holidays not only do not improve, but their ability often decreases. On the other hand, children who continue their reading maintain a higher level even after the holidays. So take care that your child reads as much as possible.
You may think: “Is it really necessary? My child needs to relax.” That’s true. However during the holidays your child can make vast progress with their reading. In the end your child will greatly benefit as it will be easier for them once they return to their reading practice at school after the holidays.
What can we do?
You could use books like:
- Holiday books (Donald Duck, Dora etc.)
- Books about your holiday destination, your own town or the town/village of their grandparents. Puzzle books with crosswords, word searches, and other word games,
- Exercise books for letters, words and writing (adapted to the age of your child)
- Brochures for amusement parks, holidays, activity programs (camping, city, etc)
- Menus on a terrace, the manual of a game, kite, or inflatable boat, etc.
